Tomorrow when the war began

The book is ok. It can be really boring in parts because it has a lot of talking and boring stuff at the start. But it can also can be a really fun book to read. It is about a girl and her friends who go to camp in the hills. While they are away a war starts and all the people are taken to prison. And they have to survive in the bush. I recommend this book for adults to read/young adults.

Call me HOPE

Call me hope is by Gretchen Olson. It is a book about a girl called Hope who her mother keeps on bullying her by verbal abuse.
Hope tries to stop her mum hurting her feelings by setting up a score point table and it soon becomes a story about Hope and her decisions she makes concerning outdoor camp, her job, her new friend Brody, and other obstacles along the way.
I would probably rate this a 4 out of 5 basically because this isn't my type of book but otherwise I give it a thumbs up.

Enemy at the gate

I have recently finished a book for my literacy. It was called Enemy at the gate. I absolutely loved this book. This story was about a devastating disease that randomly strikes New Zealand. It was a powerful written story with laughs and sadness . It was written by Phillipa  Werry. I recommend everyone to read this story. You just won't be able to put it down! I gave it a 5/5.

I am not Esther

My book is called 'I am not Esther'

I rate this book a 3 out of 5, because it wasn't the most amazing book.
Only because it isn't the type of book I really like to read and it was kinda boring.

At some parts in the book it got really exciting, but then when you think something is going to happen, it just goes back to the same boring stuff.
The family that was in the book was really religious and into saying 'The Lord' all the time.
I would recommend this book for people aged 11+ because some of this stuff is about 14 year old girl.

Be Counted!

Be counted is a book about a diary by Amy phelps. This story is based in Dunedin 1893. It is about a girl named Amy phelps. She lives in a small town called hills creek. She has three brothers jimmy(11),freddy(7),billy(3). She also has a mother and a father who is usually drunk. One day she got a letter from her aunt Delia asking Amy to come to otago girls high school in Dunedin because ther is no high school in hills creek. So Amy leaves her family and goes to live in Dunedin with her aunt Delia and uncle Joshua. In Dunedin she meets two girls her age called Hannah and Stella. Amy also meets aunt Delia's housekeeper mrs Harrison and mrs Harrison's daughter Mary. Mary is an unusual girl she is quite quiet and doesn't really communicate with Amy. But sadly a couple of weeks after Amy moved in mrs Harrison passed away and Mary disappeared . Amy never really got on with Mary but was still worried about her. Meanwhile aunt Delia was running a petition for woman's right.she belived that woman should be able to get the vote as well as men so she was out and about looking for people to sign it. Then about halfway through the year Amy's mother was sick her mother couldn't cope on her own because father wasn't there half the time. So Amy had to go back to hills creek to look after her mother for a couple of weeks.while she was looking after her mother she found out some terrible news. She found out that her father was doing some farming and got crushed by a horse and passed away. Amy had to tell her mum which was very hard for her. Once mother had recovered Amy went back to Dunedin for her mid year exams. Amy also started art classes because she wanted to get better at her art. In the end it was a nice happy ending with aunt Delia getting a request of woman's rights, Amy getting to come back to Dunedin and Mary found .

I loved this book and there was lots of different things happening throughout the book which was interesting.
